We get asked this question alot, so we thought we should create a post about it. Here are some frequently asked questions, regarding Dermal Fillers:
- What are Dermal Fillers made of?
At Timeless Laser & Body Clinic, we use the brands Stylage and Belotero.
Stylage® is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler with local anaesthetic lidocaine (lignocaine) and an antioxidant, in the form of mannitol, all within one product. Stylage® is biocompatible, so you have no chance of an allergic reaction. Because it is biodegradable, it is perfect for your ever -changing beauty needs for your face.
BELOTERO is a premium Hyaluronic Acid filler range and the right choice for anyone seeking natural-looking results with a long-lasting effect 1. The BELOTERO filler range achieves excellent tissue integration and provides subtle, smooth results while respecting the natural contours of your face.
Our Doctors will decide which filler is right for you, according to your unique needs, the depth of the wrinkles and the thickness of your skin. . Each product is a little bit different in viscosity and volume.
2. What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid is our skin’s natural moisturizer; you might have come across it in your day and night creams. Naturally present, it binds water which moisturizes the skin and provides tightness. Over time, its natural production decreases and the skin becomes flaccid. When only applied externally as a cream or serum, Hyaluronic Acid cannot pass through all layers of our skin. For a truly skin-changing result, Hyaluronic Acid must be injected into the different layers of the skin to achieve instant, lasting and truly visible effects.*
3. How long will the fillers last?
This really depends on what areas are being filled. It can range anywhere from 3/4 months to 1.5 years +
Areas that wear off faster, are areas that move alot. For example, your mouth/lips. Areas like the cheeks, under eyes, will last longer.
4. How long before I see results, and is there any downtime?
You will see results immediately. We require you to have a freshly cleaned face when you come in for your consultation and treatment. You could be in the clinic for up to 1 hour or longer, depending on your consultation time, and what you choose to have done. After your appointment, you may have some small marks on your face at the injection site, which will subside over the course of a day. You will see immediate results, and things will settle over the next few days as there may be a tiny bit of swelling at injection site etc. Our doctors will usually tell you immediately if they think you will have any bruising, if you do… this may last a week or two. The best ways to avoid bruising are to avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours before your appointment, and to sit as still as possible for the doctor.
5. Does it hurt?
Everyone handles pain and needles differently. Our doctors are very gentle, while also doing what they need to do to inject the filler. If there is any pain, it’s not unbearable and doesn’t last long. Some of our fillers have lidocaine in them, which helps with this. We also use a specially formulated numbing compound for your skin before some injection sites. We also have small ice packs to use before injecting. All of these measures to make the session as comfortable as possible for all of our clients.
6. Where on my face can I get fillers injected?
Marionette folds (wrinkles from the mouth to the chin)
Oral commissures (edges of the mouth)
Generalized volume loss around the nose, mouth, and cheeks
Volume loss of the hands
7. How much will it cost?
